The Cheapest Way To Travel Back To Your Childhood, And Through 31 Time Zones.
Everyone remembers that single drawer in their childhood home’s nightstand, a veritable treasure trove of empty sunglasses cases, used AA batteries, gameboy color games and lastly, multiple digital watches, long forgotten. The king of these unsung heroes from our childhood, Casio, still reigns supreme in the digital watch market space. The retro gold Casio fervently sought after by hipsters and tech junkies alike, or the bulky definition of manhood in the G-Shock line, Casio still is a huge watch brand for many.
I was driven to pick up a Casio to feed into that sense of nostalgia, as well as feeding my addiction for a quick “watch hit” after realizing my paycheck was not completely used up. My dealer, “Amazon Prime” and $30 later, the Casio AE-1200WH-1A was in my possession. I chose this watch because, out of the whole Casio lineup, nothing comes close to the beauty of the dial on the Casio AE-1200. The complete world map with bold time zone, mixed with the submarine radar-esque time counter in the top left of the dial make this watch punch way above its weight. Add a 10-year battery, back light, alarm, stopwatch and 31 time zones built in and this watch becomes probably the best value for money I daresay, ever. It is also incredibly light, and feels super durable. The resin band is comfortable and secure, and I’d prefer this on my wrist to hit the gym than an Apple watch any day.
If you are looking for a blast from the past, and also want a cheap, reliable and sturdy travel companion, the Casio AE-1200WH-1A is definitely worth your time.
